Andrew is the recipient of the 2016 Architecture Award from The American Academy of Arts and Letters. The Academy was established in 1898 as an honor society which recognizes leading practitioners in the Arts and Humanities. The induction ceremony coincided with an exhibition of the firm’s work, on display at The Academy.
Andrew Berman’s architecture, said Tod Williams and Billie Tsien on the occasion of the award, “is defined by a calm intelligence that produces places that sing with a clear and pure beauty. It is strong and minimal and at the same time very human and humane. His work is a sublime container for thinking, for seeing, and for life lived.”
