Lower East Side Ecology Center

The project entails the renovation of a two-story early 20th century fire boathouse as the new home of the Lower East Side Ecology Center. The proposed work scope included a new vegetated roof with solar, wind, and rainwater harvesting technologies, meeting rooms for community outreach, and public education and administrative support areas.

LESEC is a non-profit organization that “works toward a more sustainable New York City by providing community-based recycling and composting programs, developing local sterwardship of green space, and increasing community awareness, involvement and youth development through environmental education programs.”
